“Perspective” –27th April 2018
“A Fork in the Road” this month our speaker Leona Grant shared her thoughts on Perspective in the Cambridge English dictionary says – to think about a situation or problem in a wise and reasonable way: You must keep things in perspective –
Influence:
- View point
- Approving life
- Access different situations and where that fits in life
Spiritual:
- How God sees things and aligns that
- Colossians 3:v2 Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is. See things from his
- Isaiah 40: v8 The grass withers and the flowers fall but the word of our God endures for ever.’
- Psalms 39 ‘Show me, Lord, my life’s end and the number of my days, let me know how fleeting my life is.
“Everything is but a breath even though seems secure”.
Life is fleeting, fragile & nothing is guaranteed, things change in an instant, our complacency can sometimes trip us up!
“EACH DAY A NEW GIFT FROM GOD”
What does it mean to grasp these truths – unpredictable life ‘Francis Chan said – we believe we are able to communicate with a God of the universe, who saved us, where eternity is waiting for us and He loves us. ‘Are there areas of our thinking which we fail to align with these truths?’
- Church – work life Balance
- Trust one another
- Constant re-aligning ourselves
- Nurturing relationships, conversations
Realigning ourselves with God allows us more freedom
Practically realigning our perspective
How often do we think about it, is it too big to comprehend and to Trust God. Worship is key to maintaining perspective and realign our focus and puts our heart in the right place. A practical way to take a moment. The suddenness of incidents – to illnesses, children getting sick can bring you back into perspective!
Going to church on Sunday helps you gain perspective, giving to God and take a step back and going ‘Back to Basics’, taking the opportunities to be brought back to put everything into perspective. Being regular community, relationships and caring for each other can help you bring perspective. How can we say our attitude to life and work is noticeably different to non-Christians and how that looks to us!
Feeling like a refugee Like you don’t belong to me The colors flash across the sky |
This air feels strange to me Feeling like a tragedy I take a deep breath and close my eyes One last time, One last time |
Storms on the wasteland Dark clouds on the plains again We were born into the fight |
But I’m not sentimental This skin and bones is a rental And no one makes it out alive |
Until I die I’ll sing these songs On the shores of Babylon Still looking for a home In a world where I belong |
Where the weak are finally strong Where the righteous right the wrongs Still looking for a home In a world where I belong |
Feels like we’re just waiting, waiting While are hearts are just breaking, breaking Feels like we’ve been fighting against the tide |
I wanna see the earth start shaking I wanna see a generation Finally waking up inside |
Until I die I’ll sing these songs On the shores of Babylon Still looking for a home In a world where I belong |
Where the weak are finally strong Where the righteous right the wrongs Still looking for a home In a world where I belong A world where I belong |
This body’s not my home This world is not my own But I still can hear the sound Of my heart beating out So let’s go boys, play it loud |
And on that final day I die I want to hold my head up high I want to tell you that I tried To live it like a song |
And when I reach the other side I want to look you in the eye And know that I’ve arrived In a world where I belong Where I belong |
I still believe we can live forever You and I we begin forever now Forever now Forever I still believe in us together You and I we’re here together now Together now, Forever now |
