Lunchtime Meditation

Lunchtime Meditation

Date/Time
Date(s) - 3 October 2022
13:00 - 14:00

Whether or not you have experienced meditation before, you are welcome to come and join our online Lunchtime Meditation session.  Chris Whittington will lead us, through introductory words, into profound shared silence.

The regular practice of meditation can have a huge impact on our work and our life.  It is a quiet path towards being more fully awake, more gratefully present. It builds community as it disposes us to the peace that undermines all that divides us and lays bare who we really are – members of one family.

The focus of meditation is not to obtain an extraordinary life – however we might imagine that for ourselves or for others! – but to live our ordinary life extraordinarily well. It’s about seeing clearly and acting with compassion. It’s about wholeness and relationship. As we learn to greet our thoughts, our feelings and the content of experience with greater stillness, with greater silence, we open up a more spacious perspective in which we can see both ourselves and those around us better.

For Christians, meditation is also an ancient way of prayer, responding to Christ’s invitation, “Come, and you will see” (John 1:39).  We discover that we are not separate from God, or from each other: so we are leaning in to Jesus’ prayer to God, “I have given them the glory that you gave me, so that they may be one, as we are one” (John 17:22).

Chris’s meditation sessions are highly valued by many of us across the Birmingham business community: participants have particularly appreciated, “Time to be with Chris and closer to God.  I love booking this space in my diary, it’s always a priority meeting.”  You are welcome to join us for this lunchtime space, experiencing what has been described as, “a restful and more compassionate space in the day”.

PRACTICALITIES:

  • Zoom: The event will be held on Zoom and participants will be sent a Zoom link a day or two before the session.
  • Donations: There will be no charge for the event. However, ChaplaincyPlus relies on donations to deliver our vision to help people encounter the depth dimension of faith and life, so we are giving those who chose to do so the opportunity to support ChaplaincyPlus with a donation, when booking a place for this event, to enable our work to remain open to all.
  • Inclusive: This lunchtime Meditation Session is particularly offered to the Christians across the business community and will be accessible to Christians of all denominations. We are also glad to welcome people of all faiths and none.
